NFL PICKS WEEK TWO

Ok, I was 8-7-1 last week and John was 7-8-1. Here are this weeks' picks.

1.) Atlanta Falcons at home (-6.5) VS Arizona Cardinals
You can be certain that Michael Turner will get a lot more carries this week than he did last week in Pittsburgh. The Cardinals looked unimpressive in their win against the Rams.
PREDICTION: FALCONS

2.) Minnesota Vikings at home (-5.5) VS Miami Dolphins
The Vikings have had ten days since losing to the Saints. Lost in their anemic offensive performance is their stellar defensive play, only giving up fourteen points in New Orleans. The Dolphins simply don't have enough. Can Chad Henne score in Minnesota when Drew Brees had such minimal scoring at home?
PREDICTION: VIKINGS

3.) Green Bay Packers at home (-13) VS Buffalo Bills
Even without Ryan Grant the Packers will roll. Buffalo might be the worst team in the NFL. At least the Rams have Sam Bradford
PREDICTION: PACKERS

4.) Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) at Cincinnati Bengals
I bit into the Bengals apple last week. Not again. After one winning season, they believed their press clippings. The Ravens put the wood to the Jets, not that the Jets challenged them on offense.
PREDICTION: RAVENS

5.) Tennessee Titans at home (-5) VS Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh had to go to OT to beat Atlanta at home. Tennessee is running on all cylinders and the Steelers offense can't compete.
PREDICTION: TITANS

6.) Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) at Detroit Lions
Michael Vick will start as Kevin Kolb recovers from his concussion. Shaun Hill is in for Matt Stafford. The Lions won't be a pushover, but Vick lights the fire.
PREDICTION: EAGLES

7.) Dallas Cowboys at home (-7) VS Chicago Bears
The Cowboys can't block and last week's game indicates they may now have the "stupid gene". The Bears don't have enough though.
PREDICTION: COWBOYS

8.) Carolina Panthers at home (-3.5) VS Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Matt Moore will start. I didn't see the Bucs last week cause it was blacked out. The Panthers played well against the Giants before the roof fell in on them.
PREDICTION: PANTHERS

9.) Cleveland Browns at home (-2) VS Kansas City Chiefs
How does Cleveland beat the Chiefs with Seneca Wallace at QB when they couldn't beat the Bucs. The Chiefs look energized.
PREDICTION: CHIEFS

10.) Oakland Raiders at home (-3.5) VS St Louis Rams
This game will determine if the Raiders are really a sleeper or not, because sleepers would beat a 1-15 team at home. Sam Bradford looked good for his first start last week, but we'll see. If the Rams can mileage from Steven Jackson, then they have a chance. The last thing they can afford is Asoumagha baiting their franchise QB all night.
PREDICTION: RAIDERS

11.) Denver Broncos at home (-3.5) VS Seattle Seahawks
The Broncos picked up Laurence Mauroney from the Patriots this week, I did not get to see their game against the Jags either. That said, Seattle played a lot better than expected last week. The Broncos just don't pass the gut check.
PREDICTION: SEAHAWKS

12.) Houston Texans (-3) at Washington Redskins
The Redskins couldn't score an offensive touchdown last week and got a gift win from the Cowboys. The Texans flexed their muscle last week and the Skins don't have the weapons to keep even.
PREDICTION: TEXANS

13.) San Diego Chargers (-7) at home VS Jacksonville Jaguars
The Chargers got off to their typically awful start against the Chiefs and likely will continue. Will the talented Chargers show up or the Jags keep it close? Just a guess.
PREDICTION: JAGS TO COVER

14.) New England Patriots (-3) at New York Jets
Can Antonio Cromartie get his act together? Will they leave rookie Kyle Wilson in single coverage on blitz packages? If Joe Flacco picked it up, don't you think Tom Brady will? If the Jets get a ground game going, they can win, but it's obvious they don't have faith in Sanchez down field to make plays, so the PATS will put 8 in the box and force Sanchez to make plays with pressure.
PREDICTION: PATRIOTS

15.) Indianapolis Colts (-5) at home VS New York Giants
The style of play suggests this is a good match up for the Giants. I'm not buying the Colts falling to 0-2.
PREDICTION: COLTS

16.) New Orleans Saints (-5.5) at San Francisco 49ers
Mike Singletary held a team meeting after they got off the plane from Seattle last week. Good stuff. The Saints won, but scored little but have 12 days in between games.
PREDICTION: 49ers TO COVER

  1. I was 4-0 last week, but who's counting. OK, I am. My four picks for this week are:

Bills - I love double-digit home dogs. In this case almost 2 touchdowns. On any given Sunday.

    Eagles - One word. Vick.

Steelers - Getting 5 points at home? Silly.

Saints - The top power-ranked team getting 5.5 points? Also silly.

  3. I'm not going to second guess the picks, although I need to pay more attention next time. I like getting double digits with any professional team, even the worst in the league. And hey it's the Stillers.
