NFL PICKS- WEEK 4

I am 22-23-3 for the season. John is 21-24-3. Tony is 8-4.

This weeks' picks are:

1.) Tennessee Titans (2-1) (-6) at home vs. Denver Broncos (1-2)
The Broncos cannot stop Chris Johnson.
PREDICTION: TITANS

2.) Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) (-2.5) at home vs. Baltimore Ravens (2-1)
A real brawl. The winner is the one who turns it over least. Can Charlie Batch get it done? The rivalry is too great and the points too many.
PREDICTION: RAVENS

3.) Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) (-3) at Cleveland Browns (0-3)
The Browns are 3-0 against the spread, so they've played it close. This is a rivalry and the Bengal offense has not been explosive to say the least. Peyton Hillis is a force, an old school bull running the ball.
PREDICTION: BROWNS TO COVER

4.) Green Bay Packers (2-1) (-14) at home vs. Detroit Lions (0-3)
The Lions are better, but look like they're running out of steam. If the Packers can avoid the penalties, they cover.
PREDICTION: PACKERS

5.) New Orleans Saints (2-1) (13.5) at home vs. Carolina Panthers
I thought the Panthers would be able to run the ball, but I guess I was wrong. The Saints are smarting from a physical beat down from the Falcons. Rebound?
PREDICTION: SAINTS TO ANNIHILATE

6.) Atlanta Falcons (2-1) (-7) at home vs. San Francisco 49ers (0-3)
I want to believe that the 49ers are ready to step up and play at a level we all expected. I don't see it. The 49ers have been annihilated in Seattle and Kansas City. Now they go back across the country to Atlanta. The Falcons are for real. A solid, disciplined team.
PREDICTION: FALCONS

7.) St Louis Rams (1-2) (1.5) at home vs. Seattle Seahawks. (2-1)
The Seahawks have had two very impressive home wins and one bad road loss. The Rams look young, play young, but smart. Not enough talent, but enough to control the clock and open up high percentage passing plays for Sam Bradford to exploit.
PREDICTION: RAMS

8.) New York Jets (2-1) (-5.5) at Buffalo Bills (0-3)
It's tempting to think the absence of Darrelle Revis, the rivalry of the teams and Ryan Fitzpatrick's performance against the PATS last week make the Bills attractive. They're not. The Jets defense even without Revis is better than the PATS and the Bills can't stop the JETS offense.
PREDICTION: JETS

9.) Indianapolis Colts (2-1 (-7) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2)
The Jags are historically tough on the Colts, but they got nothing and the Colts are still the Colts
PREDICTION: COLTS

10.) Houston Texans (2-1) (-3) at Oakland Raiders (1-2)
The Raiders ought to be 2-1. Gradkowski makes them a better team at QB. Kubiak sucks as a head coach and Andre Johnson is not 100%
PREDICTION: RAIDERS

11.) San Diego Chargers (1-2) (-8.5) at home vs. Arizona Cardinals (2-1)
The Cardinals had one bad defeat in Atlanta, but San Diego isn't a long travel. The Chargers are off to their typical uninspiring, sluggish start. The points are too high and the Cardinals are winning ugly while the Chargers are playing ugly.
PREDICTION: CARDINALS TO COVER

12.) Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) (-5.5) at home vs. Washington Redskins (1-2)
As I posted earlier in the week, where is the young nucleus for this Redskins team? I hate 5.5 points under normal circumstances, given the historic nature of this rivalry. Michael Vick is playing at too high a level.
PREDICTION: EAGLES

13.) New York Giants (1-2) (-3.5) at home vs. Chicago Bears (3-0)
The Bears got taken off the hook by the Packers penalties. Cutler had bad throws that mattered little. But Kiwanuka is out and the Giants are just beat. Or so it looks. The Bears defense looks inspired. There is the Monday night rule of a big win and a let down on Sunday night. Too many points
PREDICTION: BEARS TO COVER

14.) New England Patriots (2-1) (-1) at Miami Dolphins (2-1)
The Pats beat up a bad Bills defense last week. The Dolphins are for real and they are at home. They have the corners to stay with the PATS wide outs.
PREDICTION: DOLPHINS

3 comments:

  1. Steelers- 3-0 versus the spread this year so I'll ride that train some more.

Lions- I'll take the big underdog and 14 points.

Cardinals- 8.5 points seems like a lot for this match-up.

Eagles- Lead pipe lock of the week. A solid bet against McNabb and a big win for Vick.

  3. My mistake, they are giving the 1.5 (as of yesterday when I posted)
