Will Hurricane Alumni Be SAtisfied?

By Palm Beach Post: Source: Temple's Al Golden to be Miami's new football coach

— Barring a last-minute snag in negotiations, the University of Miami will name Al Golden as its new football coach at a news conference Monday, a university source confirmed tonight.

Golden has been the coach at Temple University in Philadelphia for five years. He has compiled a 27-34 record, going 17-8 over the last two seasons and taking the Owls to the Eaglebank Bowl in 2009.

Kirby Hocutt, the Hurricanes' athletic director, flew to Philadelphia on Saturday and offered Golden, 41, the job, the university source said.

Golden was one of three finalists to replace Randy Shannon as UM's coach, along with Connecticut head coach Randy Edsall and Mark Trestman, a former Hurricanes assistant who has led the Montreal Alouettes to Canadian Football League championships the last two seasons.

Hocutt also flew to Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday to meet with Trestman, the source said.
