NFL PICKS, THANKSGIVING DAY, WEEK TWELVE, 2011

I was 8-6 last week. John was 7-7. We are 71-83-5 & 73-81-5 respectively for the season. It looks like a dog day this Thanksgiving. Here are tomorrow's picks.

1.) Green Bay Packers (10-0) (-6.5) at Detroit Lions (7-3)
How about this? A meaningful Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day game! The Packers learned a hard lesson that every undefeated team learns at this point in the schedule. Everyone is on top of their game. The Bucs played their best game of the season and still scared the Packers. The Lions once again had a big comeback to win last week, so they are never out of it especially against a Packer defense that lets teams back in the game. And how great a story is RB Kevin Smith, whose career was over do to injury, looking and running better than he ever has? The Lions will give up points, but can they keep up with the Pack at home on Thanksgiving under a noisy dome with a legitimate eye towards a playing spot? YUP, AT LEAST TO COVER.
PREDICTION: LIONS TO COVER

2.) Dallas Cowboys (6-4) at home (-7) vs. Miami Dolphins (3-7)
The Dolphins are playing lights out right now and should be 4-6 as they ought to have beaten the Giants four weeks ago. The Cowboys are inconsistent and unpredictable. They are clearly a better and more talented team, but the Dolphins look inspired, however inconceivable. Go with the hot team.
PREDICTION: DOLPHINS TO COVER

3.) Baltimore Ravens (7-3) at home (-3) vs. San Francisco 49ers (9-1)
The battle of John and Jim Harbaugh. Hmmmmmmmmm. The Niners flying across country on a short week ought to spell doom, but somehow I doubt it. The question is can the Ravens score against that 49ers defense? Yes, but not much.
PREDICTION: 49ers
