Lovie Smith remains mum on Mike Martz's future

Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith refused to talk about the future of offensive coordinator Mike Martz last week, and the day after the season ended he said a decision has yet to be made according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Smith, speaking Monday at Halas Hall a day after the Bears finished 8-8 with a 17-13 victory Sunday at Minnesota, said he has to meet with members of his coaching staff and management, including chairman of the board George McCaskey, president Ted Phillips and general manager Jerry Angelo.

"Mike is just like the rest of our coaching staff,” Smith said. “We did a lot of good things offensively. But right now we’re evaluating everything. Mike’s a part of that. Mike is a guy that’s been around a few years. Got to have a chance to sit down with Mike, which I haven’t had a chance to do, to see exactly which way he wants to go and which way we want to go.”
