NFL instructs all teams to "ensure no bounty program exists"

According to James Varney of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, in addition to pounding the New Orleans Saints with penalites Wednesday for what he dubbed an "unusual and egregious" system of bounties, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell demanded all 32 clubs "certify" no such schemes exist with them. Goodell ordered every owner to meet with the head coach and make clear no such systems will be tolerated by the league.

Goodell's move comes after several former players came forward and acknowledged they were familiar with 'pay for performance' frameworks in the NFL.
